Hatfield Forest Outing Report
25th September 2020
It seemed an awful day, rain and wind as we left around 8.00 and 8.30 am, about an hour to arrive at the Forest. As we were near the forest, the rain stopped and the weather was not bad for the rest of the day. We all had to book in advance for the car park and there about 12 members who arrived. We all kept good distance.
It was challenging because there was strong wind and it was very cold in the morning. But occasionally there was a few blue skies and some sun.
It is an ancient forest and plenty of large trees, and a lake modified by Capability Brown. We took photographs of landscapes, forests and trees, people, fungi, red cows, plants and flowers.
There were plenty of birds and I nearly got a good shot of a long-tailed tit, but they wouldn’t stop for more than a second.
