August 2019 Outing

Covehithe Outing

Monday 13th August 2019

Thirteen of us went to Covehithe in Suffolk. It was cloudy and grey on the route but sun and clouds looked good when we arrived. We were told that it was going to rain in 45 minutes. It didn’t look like that but we took our rain jackets and that was a good move.

Our first place was St Andrews church and the ruins around it. Plenty of shots but of course difficult to be original. Then after lunch on the go, we walked to the coast, and the cloud looked worse. A long walk to the dead trees on the beach and on the way there was a colony of sand martins in the cliffs.  Nearer the dead trees there is a hide and views of little egrets, avocets and others.

The low tide didn’t seem very low. Again we all tried to be creative about the trees. On the way back the sky became darker and we just got near the Church when the rain came down, We sheltered in the church but the rain kept coming.

Some of us went to Southwold and then we all met up in the Kings Head in Yoxford. The food was fine but it took a long time to get it.

A good trip despite the rain and there are likely to be some very creative photographs.

Best wishes
