Felixstowe Outing on Monday 4th December 2017
An early start to arrive there for sunrise and quite a cold morning but we like to suffer to make good photographs. We started at the sea defences and enjoyed the sun rise though it could have been a bit more spectacular. Then on to Languard Fort (closed in winter), nature reserve and a good view of the port. Breakfast in the local cafe.
There were 16 of us but we all dispersed and spent time in different areas.
Lunch was at The Ferryboat, very pleasant and the usual banter and serious conversations!
In the afternoon we went to Shingle Street about 40 minutes further north. A great place, at low tide very atmospheric with lagoons and channels, ridges and mounts of gravel. We stayed there until sunset, then back home, tired but a really great day out.
As usual we had an outing competition, just to encourage members to be creative. But it is entirely optional and anyone who comes can just enjoy the trip and need not be competitive at all. Some of us wander off on our own while others stay together. But again it is entirely up to the members to enjoy the day in any way they like.
