Brandon Park Outing Report
Tuesday August 29th 2017
Fifteen of us went to Brandon Country Park in Suffolk. It was a bright day but rather windy. We hoped to see butterflies but there not as many as we would have liked, mainly cabbage white and red admirals, and some others on the heath area. They were not very co-operative … for me anyway. The dragonflies were more helpful and allowed us to get quite close for macro shots. There were large ones flying around the pond and I tried to get them in flight but they were too fast for me.
Some of us liked the Edward Bliss Mausoleum in the woodland for our pictures.
We had lunch at the Chequers in Eriswell, as recommended by Allan Sheehy.. A nice pub and very good food, so we would recommend it too.
After lunch we went to Lakenheath Fen RSPB reserve. The birds were very quiet but there plenty of spiders to photograph including one wasp spider that attracted everyone.
A great day out and hope to see you again for the October outing
